New Arrival: Olive Trees

 

Olive trees are cold hardy, thrive in rich, well-drained soil and are gorgeous trees

Just in at the nursery, four varieties of olive trees: arbequina, chemlali, coratina and picual. Olive trees are gorgeous in a landscape with beautiful silver-grey leaves that complement a wide range of landscape plants. These olive varieties fruit in our area and if you are adventurous, you can try your hand at pickling olives too. Look for this weeks e-newsletters for instructions on pickling and other tips and tricks for growing olives.  Other fruit trees have arrived at the nursery too, including: peaches, apples, pears, plums, nectarines, pecans, persimmons, figs and more.

To us what really starts off spring is beautiful flowering trees. Redbuds, dogwoods and purple-leaf plums are just a few of the spring flowering trees that will light up your landscape year after year. Pictured at right is a beautiful redbud in full bloom.
