Fertilizer
Just like us, your plants need their vitamins and minerals, so don’t forget to feed them by using fertilizer. Try to use at least an all-purpose fertilizer at the beginning of spring, summer, and fall. All fertilizers will outline how often and how much to use.
We carry both all-purpose and specific fertilizers. If you want to go organic, we highly recommend Espoma Organic® products, such as the ones below in their Tone family of fertilizers:
Bio-tone® Starter Plus is both a fertilizer for new roots and a source of mycorrhizal fungi and beneficial bacteria. This blend minimizes transplant loss, grows a larger root mass so plants establish quickly, and promotes bigger blooms.1
Plant-tone® is their all-purpose 5-3-3 plant food for flowers, vegetables, trees, and shrubs.2 If you like our Kerby’s Special but want something organic, try this.
Azalea-tone®, 4-3-4, is for acid-loving plants, such as Azaleas, Camellias, and Gardenias. Get larger plants with more vibrant bloom color.3
Tomato-tone®, 3-4-6, is higher in calcium to help prevent blossom end rot. Use on all Tomato varieties along with Peppers, Squashes, and Melons since they also produce a flower. Use every two weeks during the growing season.4
Rose-tone®, 4-3-2, promotes healthier plants and larger blooms. Use on grafted, Knock Out®, and Drift® roses – all rose varieties will love it.5 Just make sure to read how much to apply so you don’t overfeed.
Garden-tone®, 3-4-4, promotes vigorous growth and increases crop yield for all herbs and veggies. Use monthly during the growing season.6
