I found the end of the rainbow the other day. It was at the MLK exit off of I-4. Maybe you saw the same rainbow. It was sooo bright in the sky.

We were out at rowing practice when some serious looking thunderstorms began to creep in, but because they never quite made it to our location what we ended up with instead was a stunning rainbow that appeared across the sky. Not one of those faint little rainbows you squint at to see all the colors. This was an all the way across the sky, super-bright, dazzling display of color where you could without question see each hue – red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, and violet painted across the sky.

And so, of course, we did what anyone would do. We followed it with thoughts of a pot of gold in our heads. We watched it stretch across the sky as we headed home, and it felt like it was a heavenly overpass that we were attempting to drive under. From our vantage point, it looked like it was moving with us. It was one of those simple little moments that somehow made an ordinary day feel extraordinary.
There wasn’t a pot of gold waiting for us at the end, but honestly, I think we found something better. Joy. That’s the funny thing about rainbows. They don’t really do anything. They don’t make your day easier or solve any problems. They just show up, put on a spectacular display for a few minutes, and remind you to look up.

And this weekend at Kerby’s, we’re going to have a few more reasons to look up and look around.
We’re welcoming in a brand-new month with Yoga in the Garden at 10am on Saturday, plus Spellbound Sourdough and Quail Run Coffee will be with us through the morning to satisfy your appetites. And if you’re looking for a little preview of the fall fun ahead, the Treasure Tower is open and ready for you to discover gorgeous gems in colors that just might remind you of that rainbow.
If that isn’t enough, this week The Flower Patch reopens for fresh flower picking, too. Check in at The Farmhouse for a pail and clippers and create a gorgeous bouquet.
There are rainbows everywhere you look. Sometimes they’re stretched across the Florida sky. Sometimes they’re tucked into a garden, hiding in a flower, or sparkling in a gem. Bits of joy are around every corner. You just have to look up, look around and take a little time to notice it.
