Have you ever seen a Monstera Deliciosa fruit before? You may recognize this plant by its common name, the Swiss Cheese Plant, that’s often grown as a houseplant.
Our resident Monstera has been growing back by our pond for many years and is HUGE. Now it’s growing fruit!
Here’s the catch: the fruit takes an entire year to fully ripen before you can eat it. Eat it too soon and it will cause severe irritation to the throat and mouth.
Last August (2025) we noticed it beginning to flower, so we kept an eye on it, waiting for the fruit to emerge. And now the fruit is finally ripe, and we tried it: watch the tasting here! It tastes like a tropical vacation with hints of pineapple, banana, and mango!🍍🍌🥭
