The Words "Thankful for YOU" Inside a Wreath of Leaves, Acorns, Pinecones, and Berries for Thanksgiving

The Things Gardeners Are Thankful For

With cool air arriving today and leaves starting to fall in their subtle Florida way, we’re reminded that Thanksgiving isn’t just a holiday, it’s a mindset. And for those of us who spend our days with soil under our nails and sunshine on our shoulders, there’s a whole lot to be grateful for. This season, we’re celebrating the quiet joys and everyday miracles that make gardening such a grounding, beautiful part of life. Here’s our list of things that gardeners everywhere are thankful for:

🌱 The First Sprout

That moment when a tiny green shoot pops through the soil never gets old. Whether it’s a tray of veggie seedlings or a single milkweed seed you scattered for the monarchs, it feels like a small victory every time.

☀️ Mornings in the Garden

The soft light. The stillness. The birds checking in on you like friendly neighbors. Early hours in the garden are a gift. One that makes coffee taste better and Mondays feel possible.

🐝 Pollinator Visitors

Butterflies dancing through pentas. Bees buzzing around your salvias. Hummingbirds zipping in for a quick snack. Our gardens aren’t just ours, they’re part of a whole community.

🍅 Homegrown Goodness

The first homegrown tomato of the season? Pure heaven. Same with peppers, herbs, strawberries, and all the edible treasures that make grocery-store versions feel like imposters.

🌧️ Rain at the Right Time

Not the sideways, five-minute deluges (we didn’t say we were thankful for all rain). But those slow, soaking showers that make plants sigh with relief. And on the rare week when Mother Nature does most of the watering for you? Bliss.

💚 A Garden That Is Never “Finished”

And thank goodness for that. There’s always something new to plant, prune, and discover. It keeps us curious, hopeful, and connected to nature and to ourselves.

And of course, here at Kerby’s, we are thankful for you. A community of people who love plants, share stories, ask questions, help us learn, and believe that life is better lived outside.
