Christmas Day is here! And even though it is early in the morning right now, I’m sure you are already up, either sipping a hot beverage in the soft glow of the Christmas tree or enduring the chaos of watching the kids excitedly open up the gifts that Santa brought them.
As I was reflecting on the Christmas season this year, I kept thinking about the things that make it Christmas for me and for my family. And I realized that everyone has a different ending to the statement, “It’s not Christmas until…” For me, I think it feels like Christmas when the tree is up and decorated, the sun has gone down, and we light a fire in the fireplace and settle down to watch A Claymation Christmas, A Muppet Family Christmas, and A Muppet’s Christmas Carol, which are some of our all-time favorite Christmas movies. There are plenty of other things that make it really feel like the Christmas season, like when we decorate the tree and talk about the memories behind each of the ornaments, whether they’re from our travels, our childhood, or some of our current hobbies and activities. Sometimes we’ll spend five minutes on one ornament. It’s a wonder we ever get the tree decorated! Or when we go through all of our old Christmas books and, of course, when the aroma from the first batch of cookies fills the air.
Christmas is a season filled with fun activities and great memories. So I’ve told you my “It’s not Christmas until” moment. What’s yours? We’d love to hear from you!
And from all of us at Kerby’s, we wish you a very Merry Christmas. We hope that you find time today to relax, enjoy those around you, and carry the spirit of Christmas with you all year long.
