Whoppers Mini Robin Eggs® Candy

I Say Whoopers, You Say Whoppers

I’ll bet you have a favorite candy. A candy that you just can’t resist. You might even call it your nemesis. It’s the one candy that when you are in the middle of a healthy-eating binge, you just can’t say no to. For me it’s malted milk balls. I can usually turn down plain chocolate. I can often turn down ultra-sugary stuff. But when presented with malted milk balls, I just can’t say no.

The other day, one of our staff members brought a bag of mixed candy to share, and it contained packets of Robin Eggs®, just one of my all-time favorite Easter candies. Kim and I have been trying to eat better, so at first I just ignored the bag. But temptation took over, and I’m pretty sure I have single-handedly eaten them all. I couldn’t resist. (I’m chowing on a bag as I write this now!)

Whoppers Mini Robin Eggs® Candy

My relationship with this candy goes back to being a kid. When I was younger, I would get a box of Whoopers each year for my birthday (yes, I know I spelled it wrong). They come in that cool box that looks sort of like a milk carton, and I don’t know why, but somehow it made them taste even better. I don’t know if it was on purpose, or as a joke, but I always called them Whoopers, not Whoppers. So each year for my birthday, I’d get a carton of Whoopers. That name has stuck for decades. If I say it to anyone else, they have no idea what I’m talking about. But in my family, we all know that it refers to tasty malted milk balls.

Anyhow, now I’m full of candy, and that’s perfect because I won’t be hungry for any more at this Saturday’s Easter Egg Hunt. We hope to see you there at 10am sharp, with the kids ready to hunt. There will be nearly 6000 eggs hidden around the nursery, filled with goodies (there are some Whoppers). Please note a couple of things: If you do come out for the hunt, please use the gates along Parsons Ave. To make the hunt as safe as possible, we will have the Wheeler gate closed for the day. Also, if you come in and our front lot is full, we will be parking cars in our back field. It’s fun to stand back and see how quickly kids can find 6000 eggs!
